Of Montreal > Requiem for OMM2

Requiem for OMM2 is an odd song, but odd songs are typical of Of Montreal. Cheerful melodies, arguably depressing lyrics…

Luckily it works quite well on the ukulele! Note that the riff might not be exact: the objective is to pluck the bass note (for instance, the third fret of the C string), and then up-pick the higher strings on off-beats. It takes a little bit of adjustment, but listening to the YouTube video should make it a bit easier. Hope you like this tab!

When I met you I was just a kid

hadn’t built up my defenses

so I gave my heart completely

vaseline over the lenses

          A 4 x9 1 x9
          E 0 x9 2 x9
          C 1 1
          G

memories don’t go away

I remember every day

[B] [E] I never [F#m] ever stop wondering

[B] [E] Wondering [C#m] if you still think of us

[B] [E] I don’t [A] need a photograph

cause you’ve [C#m] never left my [F#m] mind

No you’ve [C#m] never left my [F#m] mind

          A 2 x9 2 x9
          E 2 x9 4 x9
          C 3 4
          G

I remember feeling like a ship

whose captain was too drunk to steer

and you watched as I was sinking

waving sadly from the pier

It’s such a burden to [E] carry ‘round [Em]

the vestiges of [B] dead dreams [G#]

and I don’t want to [C#m] make a wake out of my life

I just had to let you [F#m] go
